Every October, Rocco’s Tacos brings a new meaning to Taco Tuesday. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Rocco’s Tacos hosts Tacos & Tatas Tuesdays.

The Tacos & Tatas fundraiser is normally held every Tuesday throughout the month of October; however, Rocco Mangel, owner of West Palm Beach’s local tequila bar chain, is extending this breast cancer fundraiser throughout the end of the year.

This year, Mangel aims to raise $100,000 towards breast cancer awareness, and YOU can help!

If you are not a Taco Tuesday participant, this is a great way to enjoy the day AND make a difference! Every Tuesday you can enjoy an assortment of all you can eat tacos for only $14.99. And if not for the great food, do it for the cure. A percentage of every Tacos & Tatas Tuesday proceeds will be donated to the breast cancer nonprofit organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

And if you are lucky enough to catch Rocco Mangel himself at your local West Palm Beach location, you will be in for a treat. Mangel likes to add a little flavor of his own when he is in town by wearing his pink patent-leather shoes in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Mangel also serves complimentary tequila for all of his customers that donate towards the cause.

So come on down, and participate in West Palm Beach’s Roccos Tacos breast cancer fundraiser! If you are moving to West Palm Beach, be sure to catch this fun event every Tuesday. And if you are moving to West Palm Beach post-breast cancer awareness month, keep in mind that the Roccos Tacos Tuesday breast cancer fundraiser will continue until the end of 2014. That’s twelve Tacos & Tatas Tuesdays to help Mangel reach his goal and help aid in finding the cure for cancer!

Our day with the AHA!

Success is a beautiful thing. We at All My Sons Moving & Storage take a lot of pride as movers in being the first step in our customers succeeding in their new life, but we’re also proud to aid the success of the American Heart Association. While helping charities can be great in any case, the American Heart Association has been setting huge goals and making headway. At the turn of the millennium, they gave themselves ten years to reduce coronary heart disease, stroke, and risk factors. Not only did they reduce related deaths beyond their goal far earlier than planned, they’ve made tremendous headway with the other branches of their goal.

Heart attack and stroke are still the number one and four greatest killers of Americans, but the headway has allowed the American Heart Association to take on an even more ambitious goal for this decade. The focus has shifted from directly battling heart disease factors to an overall improvement of health and living quality.

One of the new efforts is the Heart Walk, an event to raise money and awareness. Beyond those goals, it encourages physical activity and heart healthy living. It certainly worked with us, as we donated our time to help moving equipment and materials needed to run the event. We hope to maintain a long relationship with the organization and that others may follow our lead and help out.

After months of enduring Florida’s summer storms you may have been wondering whether you are in a flood zone or in an unfortunate circumstance you may have found out the hard way. However, no more guessing and no more surprises. Palm Beach County is creating an online site where you can see if your home falls within a flood zone in seconds. This is a great resource to utilize when you are scouting potential properties to buy as well.

Due to recent reconstruction and the increase of new communities throughout West Palm County there has been a shift in zoning. New communities have been omitted from the flood zone because of the obligated drainage and elevation improvements prior to construction, while other existing properties have shifted into the zone. Which, for those of you moving to Palm Beach area, means it is crucial to double check the new maps for West Palm County to inform yourself about your future property and to be prepared.

If you are moving to West Palm from out of state or moving just down the street, it is safe to assume that you are seeking a fun beach town that provides luxuries other towns may not. Celine Dion has recently cut the listing rice for her Jupiter, FL mansion (complete with private waterpark), after a year of it sitting on the market. The initial listing price was $72.5 million for the 5.7 acre waterfront estate, and she has cut the price by $10 million, according to recent reports in the NY Daily News. The 10,000-square-foot home takes opulence to new extremes. It has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, a formal living room with high vaulted ceilings, a media room, a wraparound terrace and two decks. The master bedroom has a closet fit for a diva, with automated carousels for clothing and shoes. The property even has its very own waterpark with two slides and a bridge over a lazy river. And one pool isn’t enough. Dion has three. There’s also a simulated golf range, a tennis court and a guest wing. View photos of the property here on NY Daily News.

Don’t be deterred by not having enough furniture to fill the place—reports indicate that the home is being sold with almost all of its contents. The home was custom built for Dion and her husband after buying the land parcel for $19.5 million. Moving to Jupiter? Maybe this home is the right one for you!

Over the past few years, the state of Florida has been a reliable part of the high foreclosure lists when examining foreclosure filings throughout the US. Along with Nevada, Florida has remained a market that has had trouble bouncing back from the housing crisis. In fact, Florida had the nation’s highest foreclosure rate in July for the 10th consecutive month, with one in 469 homes in some stage of the process.

Despite that top position for foreclosures, the amount of foreclosures within Florida is dropping. The same month actually showed 30 percent less foreclosures and marked the 12th straight month for foreclosure filing decreases. Also, many of the foreclosures under process currently are residual from case logs that haven’t been cleared and date back to 2004 through 2008. The county had 363 new cases filed in July, down 3 percent from a year ago, according to the RealtyTrac listing firm.

While the road is still long for Florida’s total recovery, the demand for housing and the influx of people moving to West Palm Beach are still strong factors that help the Palm Beach county market thrive. Nearby cities like Boca Raton and Delray Beach are also high on demand and relatively low on available supply.

Overall, the signs are pointing in the right direction for the recovery of Palm Beach County. If you are thinking of buying a home in West Palm Beach, or another area of Palm Beach County, we think you’ll be pretty satisfied at the life you will have here! In fact, Boca Raton was just voted the best city to live in within the state of Florida.

Recently, the PGA National Resort and Spa held a cupcake decorating event called The Great Cupcake Challenge as a part of the property’s Sweet Treat Weekend. The resort currently holds the Guinness World Record for longest ice cream sundae from last year’s event, and this year’s efforts were aimed towards creating the largest cupcake wedding cake. A “Chocolate Affair” was held in the iBAR and lobby Friday night. It featured a chocolate buffet, milk and white chocolate fountains, ice cream flavored wines, artisan popcorn, gourmet ice cream and dessert flavored “Sweetinis.”

Guests in attendance were given 18 cupcakes per family to decorate, along with a decorating kit. Kits contained two types of icing, gummy bears, Oreos, graham cracker cookies, sprinkles, Rice Krispie treats and other goodies. The goal was to set a world record, and the cake measured 10 feet high and 12 feet wide, the product of 10,000 cupcakes working together.

The fun isn’t over! If you are living in West Palm Beach or nearby, you can get tickets to the Big Taste Ice Cream Social this Sunday, which is sponsored by Whole Foods. The store will provide 40 different gourmet ice creams, sorbets and gelatos. A topping bar will be available with the expected offerings, such as sauces, nuts and fruits, as well as some unusual choices, including wasabi peas and candied bacon. The all you can eat sweet treat feast starts at noon.

Adults are $25, kids under 12 are $15 and children under five may share with their parents at no charge.

Palm Beach shopping is world renowned, and the Palm Beach Outlets have been a nice alternative to the standard Worth Avenue filled with high prices and exclusive labels. Targeting a broader audience, the Palm Beach Outlets cater to a budget-conscious shopper. To say the outlets are a success is putting it lightly. The shopping center — at 1751 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. in West Palm Beach, just off Interstate 95 — opened with nearly 100 retailers. By year’s end, the 500,000-square-foot center is expected to have at least 10 more shops open for business.

The roster of tenants is more similar to your everyday mall, but with sales and lower prices than normal retail locations. Marketplace at the Outlets, a 300,000-square-foot retail center, is under construction adjacent to the outlets. The new plaza is slated to open this fall and house about 20 more retailers, including Nordstrom Rack, Bed Bath & Beyond and Ulta Beauty. A Whole Foods Market is also expected. The Palm Beach Outlets filled a niche for outlet shoppers who previously trekked down to Sawgrass Mills or up to Port St. Lucie.

Moving to Palm Beach, or simply want to visit for the shopping? You certainly won’t be disappointed. Between the Palm Beach Outlets, Worth Avenue, and the Gardens Mall–there is plenty to get excited about when it comes to shopping in Palm Beach.
